Objective:

This series of web pages demonstrate how Family Tree Diagrams, specifically a Family Ancestry Map,
can be used to clearly label of all of your family and family members by deriving unique identification numbers (ID numbers) for each

Throughout this project several names had emerged to describe it

GAF
Genealogical Accounting Framework - accurate but not specific
Family Passport
- because headshot photo ( passport photos ) served as basic component of family member record.

A better name is
Family GPS
Accounting empowered by spatial recognition.
A map is always better than a verbal description.
Family GPS is comprised of

Family Ancestry Map
Family IDs and Individual IDs serve as Map coordinates
The IDs are further leveraged as media labels (filename stubs)

The most critical aspect of genealogy accounting is to clearly identify

each of your family members
their family
and their family's relationship to you
(i.e. the family's position on your Family Ancestry Map).

Clear ID tagging of family members allows you to

associate demographic information

(birth date,wed date, married name)

and digital artifacts

(photographs and newsclippings saved as JPG files)

cleanly with each entity.

It also allows you to selectively call up their information

(e.g. list people from particular branch of the family)

Follow the instructions shown to determine FAM_ID and IND_ID values by filling out the Family Ancestor Maps.

Every person (IND_ID) and family (FAM_ID) must have an ID derived following the Map and formula.

The simple rule for FAM_ID numbers

FAM_ID	Meaning
less than 100	Ancestor Family - consult Family Ancestry Map
greater than 100	then first digit of FAM_ID tells which branch of family
3 digit FAM_ID	first generation descendants grandchildren of Root Family or one of the branches (2,3,4,5,6,7)
Each FAM_ID digit beyond 3	is another generation great grandchildren of Root Family or one of the branches (2,3,4,5,6,7) and beyond
